Musée Grévin is showcasing Théo Curin, the double silver medallist at the Para Swimming World Championships. Today he is an extreme swimmer, presenter and actor, and is the first disabled athlete to join Grévin’s Champions Club.
Théo Curin: a zest for life and a perfect example of determination
Théo Curin joined the Pôle France parasport swimming team when he was 13 and soon competed in his first French Championships. He quickly became one of France's greatest para swimming hopes, and went on to achieve a string of successes:
🏆 He won two silver medals at the 2017 Para Swimming World Championships in the 100m and 200m freestyle.
🦾 He is the first quadruple amputee athlete to complete a Half Ironman in Les Sables d'Olonne in 2020, a feat achieved in a time of 6:53:00.
🏊🏻♂️ He swam across Lake Titicaca (108km) in water at 12°C, at 3,800m above sea level in 2021.
🤿 He is the first disabled athlete to complete the 57-km long Santa Fe–Coronda Marathon (open water swimming race) in Argentina.
Théo is multi-talented and is always keen to take up new challenges. He is a presenter on France 4 and on the Okoo show with his programme "T'es au top", a reporter on France 3’s programme “Aux Jeux Citoyens", and an actor, who has appeared in the French series "Plus belle la vie" and "Vestiaires", as well as in the French TV film "Handigang".
And as nothing can hold him back, he is currently preparing for April 2024 and his next extreme challenge. He will be taking part in the Défi Madiba, a sports and charity challenge with TV presenter and globetrotter Ismaël Khelifa, and will have to swim 30 km and cycle 100 km.
Théo Curin took part in a series of meetings to create his waxwork, which features an identical tattoo and scars, carefully crafted to be as close to reality as possible. He is staged on a starting block with the number 4, and he provided his own prosthetics and his usual swimsuit to dress his wax replica.
